Evolution is a scientific fact, it is not reasonable any longer to question it. That does not mean it is in conflict with Christianity if its basic adherence to the Bible is interpreted broadly - what is a day before heaven and earth and the revolution of the earth around the sun began? The fundamentalists' slavish adherence to literal interpretations of ancient texts defies human intelligence and reasoning which distinguish us from that other line of descendancy, and thus even defies the ancient texts.

It is ridiculous that this argument is still kept alive by US media's insistence on providing alternate views no matter how wrong and ridiculous they are.
